- The architects "Boge Lindner" located in the city of Hamburg were in charge of the construction project. They were already awarded for their successful re-development of the former Roland-Kaserne Barracks into the present Jacobs University campus.
- The college has 83 double apartments and 100 single apartments. College Nordmetall also offers, just like the other three colleges, recreational facilities. These include: a huge common room complete with table tennis, air hockey, fussball, pool and darts; a state of the art multimedia room; a dance room and a picturesque garden.

- The first batch of students moved into College Nordmetall in January 2009 while several parts of the building were still under construction. They named themselves the "College IV Pioneers". The pioneers together with the highly committed college office team, supported the ongoing construction, brought life into the new college and shaped it for future generations of students.
